We got to spend time getting to know Sinead de la Querra. She is the vocalist and co-founder of Fire Through The Window (FTTW) and she’s recently started her own solo project called, ‘p e t’. p e t is her electro-pop alter-ego. The etymology behind p e t is varied. ‘Pet’ is singular, it is a term of endearment, it refers to Sinead’s ‘pet project’ and while the word ‘pet’ is associated with positivity and happiness, it too can bear dark, sinister undertones. Check out her new single, ‘In The Dark’ and look out for an album in future.

DYD: You are the vocalist for Fire Through The Window. Have you always wanted to do something different? And why did you reach into the electro-pop sphere?
Sinead (p e t): Until now, FTTW has been my one and only music outlet and sometime in the middle of last year I started thinking that I would love to do a little something else… something of my own.
I have always wanted to play around with an electro-pop sound so I figured now was as good a time as any to give it a bash.
DYD: We’ve listened to In The Dark and you have quite an original sound. Where do you draw inspiration for your music?
Sinead (p e t): Different parts of the music draw inspiration from different places. Lyrically I am generally inspired by people, stories and relationships. Sound wise I like to expose myself to as much
as I can. I think Postal Service was a big inspiration.
DYD: Where do you see p e t going in the next year?
Sinead (p e t): I just want to make music and get as many people to hear it as I possibly can. That’s all it’s about.
DYD: What would your ultimate musical success be?
Sinead (p e t): I would love to play an international show. I think that must be fun. And getting to travel because of my music… incredible.
