We caught up with Dan Patlansky and talked about his international success and new album, “Introvertigo”.

You’ve been winning awards, left, right and centre. Tell us about this experience and are you going to keep working to win more?

The awards are great because its reassurance for all the hard work put in, but I don’t work for the awards. I work for love of what I do. If awards come with that then that’s great, and I certainly won’t turn any down.

Tell us more about your new album, Introvertigo. Which song stands out for you and why?

Introvertigo is my 8th release. I’m excited about the songs on this one. I believe its a very strong album firmly rooted in the direction I want to be heading in. Loosen up the Grip stands out for me because it my favourite song I’ve written so far. It means a lot to me personally.

You’re going to be touring for two months. How are you going to maintain your energy levels during the tour? Will you ever get to rest?

One maintains energy levels resting with every opportunity you are given, even if that’s not a lot. But touring a new album with new songs makes it a lot easier because its still very fresh.

What are you looking forward to most on your UK tour? Is the international music scene your primary focus?

The UK scene for what I do is great, so it’s always a pleasure getting back there. For now we are focusing mainly on Europe/UK and South Africa evenly.

What are your plans for this year beyond your upcoming SA tour, album release and UK tour?

A few more tours to UK/Europe as well as few more SA tours. And hopefully releasing a live DVD later this year.

What is your ultimate musical success?

Selling out The Royal Albert Hall.
