We speak to Wandile Mbambeni about his latest single, “Lovers Like You”.
Tell us about your musical journey.
Picked up the guitar in the year 2010 and taught myself ever since. Started writing and recording my own compositions. September 2014 I released my debut 7 track EP Home-Grown. I then toured Germany for 35 days with a number of sold-out shows, was quite surprised if I might add. I moved to Cape Town straight after Afrikaburn 2015, it was then when I recorded my 10 Track Debut Album Good Intentions released on the 27th of July 2015 (My Birthday). It was this album that introduced me to the Cape Town Live Music Scene. I started writing not long after the release of the album, I wrote Lovers Like You released on the 14th of February 2016.
The time to mature and produce a fuller sound had to come and it came at the perfect time, I started learning the art of production and sound engineering on the side to produce my very own project. On that quest I produced a 9 track EP Maturation the latest project we have been working on which will be out soon. The EP consists of talented jazz musicians.
