I’ve never really considered using a search engine that wasn’t Google. We all know that in a race Google wins, Yahoo limps in second and Bing… well… tries. There’s a new search engine on the block and it’s different from all the rest. It’s name is Ecosia and it’s a search engine that plants trees with the ad revenue generated through the search engine.
How do they do this? You search the web using the Ecosia, the search ads generate income for Ecosia and this money is used to plant trees.
They have managed to plant more than 4 million trees around the world, most recently they were busy in Burkina Faso. They have also generated over 2.5 million Euros for forestry programs since they were founded in December 2009.
I think it’s really cool because you can track how many trees you’ve helped plant. Get your friends and family using Ecosia and change the planet’s landscape. Watch the video below for more information.
