Market on Main has arrived in Pretoria. The weekly Saturday market launched on the 20th of June. The venue, 012 Central, is a converted warehouse opposite the South African Reserve Bank and a block away from the Pretoria State Theatre. It was packed full of food, craft beer, cocktails and locals; there was even an art gallery and clothes section at the market.

I liked the atmosphere. It was kind like a giant version of the Neighbourgoods Market. In fact, I’ll go as far as to say that it’s better than the Neighbourgoods Market and also better than the Johannesburg version of Market on Main.

Why?

  • It’s bigger, there is far more space for everything to exist. The place was packed but it was still possible to find somewhere to sit. Even if it was on the grass outside.
  • Pretoria food vendors were used.
  • Pretoria fashionistas are something else.

I shot a Faces series at the market. I hope that you enjoy the series as well some of the photos from the venue.
