Thursday night saw Michael Lowman introduce the first of his Storyteller Sessions for his album launch of ‘Crayon Boxes’. Ash gives us the Aftermath of that event. Photos by Ash.

The setup of the album launch in the Maboneng Precinct was picturesque of treasured times spent on a Stellenbosch farm during a cool summer’s night. Unlike other album launches, the night was more intimate and consisted of sitting amongst friends in a cosy room, sharing stories about life and having a chuckle about the magic of a woman’s ability to make a man crumble. Attendees nestled together in a humble room at SMACK! Republic Brewing Co, sipped craft beer and interacted with Michael as he stood in front of them in a charming suit, his guitar and a microphone stand.

Michael possesses an uncanny ability to interact with the audience whilst taking them from one story to the next, introducing them to his upcoming album, Crayon Boxes. Effortlessly, his songs weave undertones of blues, folk and pop while speaking significant words of love and special moments.

The launch offered something different for Jozi nights, and it is highly recommended to keep an eye out for the upcoming sessions.

Crayon Boxes will be out from Monday, the 23rd September.
