In a world where every second bloke with a digital camera or iPhone claims to be a music video director, few really stand out. South African music videos can (for some reason) be spotted a mile away. Then, you look to the folks who know what they’re doing. Nabil is one of those. He is a photographer/music video and film director, and he’s good. He’s done some commercial work for Seal, John Legend and The Black Eyed Peas, but his work is not like typical American television. He’s rough around the edges.

The first time I saw Nabil’s work was for Bon Iver’s “Holocene”.

Crazy footage along with one of my favorite artists led me to actually Google the guy. Seems he’s in high demand.

He’s done work for Kanye West

The Weekend

Frank Ocean

James Blake

and even Foals.

A casual warning though: His work is somewhat explicit. You’ll see violence, some heavy petting, and some nudity. Not the type of video your mum would enjoy. If you like his stuff though, you can follow him on Vimeo, Tumblr and Twitter.
